Dented my MBP :(

do marks or dents drop you down the apple social scale or something?

:p

The thing is, I bought it this summer ... the 2.4ghz C2D, at full retail price (with other stuff too) so for me it's a significant purchase! Especially as I was only 16 at the time

So, who/where & how much to have it fixed (or I guess have that part of the casing replaced)??

EDIT: Re were, local apple place's website (Farpoint) say they do repairs...but no mention of prices

I imagine you'll be paying quite a lot for that. It would be entirely possible to do it yourself, but good luck buying the part.

Are the serial numbers etched into the bottom casing, or is that in the battery bay now?

something similar happened to my powerbook.
i removed the top lid and hammered the bump. i managed to fix it....somehow ;)
however, i would never do it to a new machine. the good thing is that replacing the case is reasonably priced. around 100 euros. i would take it to an apple centre and use the opportunity of an hard drive upgrade.

You chose to drop a MBP over a child??

Yeah right, kids bounce and heal. shame on you. :p
Panzer

Neither of you have met my Mrs:p

Besides it would have been a really nasty fall for the lad, he was asleep on my shoulder, it was dark and raining and the steps I slipped on were concrete! Besides the MBP is insured. Shame I only ruined it rather than completely trashing the thing.

I'm probably due a nice C2D with 4GB of RAM pretty soon anyway, just got to convince the business partners that 2GB of RAM just isn't enough!!:D

I got dropped on brick steps several times in the raid when I was little...

No idea what my stupid sister kept dropping me for though. :/

I still can't figure out what's wrong in the photo! Someone with skitch want to do me a drawing?

This one shows it from another angle.

Unfortuantely in real-life the exposed edge is really shiny, so it catches any light and draws the eye to it
