Depression

The drugs don't work, they only make it worst.

Sorry but that is rubbish. Everyone is different and some meds will works for some and not for others.

Depression is not just about a lifestyle change as it can be a 'real' illness. It can very deep seated. It is almost always triggered by something but it is one of the worst things anyone can suffer! Unless one has suffered from it then it can be hard to understand.

For me, yes, i would rather have an arm off than suffer it like i did! It was really bad!

Still on meds now for approx 12 years. Anxiety and Depression was the diagnosis for me. Tried counseling but that didnt work for me.

Escitalipram has and is working for me for all these years. Depression can always be there though and does raise its head now and again in life.

I'm not sure it's meant to be a solution?
It's definitely a good temporary measure, to work out where you're head is at.

Low dose, for a few months, can just get you back in to the day-to-day running.
There really isn't anything wrong with my life, that I have control over, but it certainly didn't feel that way for a while.

The doctors do treat it as a solution, which is why someone in this thread has been on them for 8 years. I was put on them about 12 or so years back and the doctor said I may be on them for the rest of my life. I didn't want that so came off them and instead focused on improving my life.
