depressive vs non depressive games

OP, I can understand where you are coming from - you just have to understand that this is a general trend in the industry. Many good games these days include a very "emo" story line, all gritty and hopelessness, where you just have to end up killing everything to get to the end, preferably via some horror-style environments. My advice? Play some decent online MP games - there is no substitute for shooting the competition in the face and having a good laugh about it.
 
I just got a new game and its making me feel a bit melancholy.

It's the new deus ex. Dystopian games always have this effect on me, its the humanity going down the drain stuff that makes me feel a bit cheesy.

Yeah, set in the future + dystopia just gets to me always.
