When you google search a web-site, it comes up with the description under the link, now I know where this is in the HTML coding, so edited it and re-uploaded but the description doesn't change.

How come?
Is there something else I've missed?

Didn't change on your website or didn't change in the SERPs?

It takes time for Google to refresh it. You'll have to wait for the spider to come around. Could force it by resubmitting your XML sitemap.

Changed on the web-site, just not on the description when running a google search. How long does Google normally take to refresh it?

Loads of factors affect how often your site is crawled. If its small with low traffic then it could be a week before it filters into the results.

Are you sure, because if you do you could make millions ;)

The description text Google uses is based on their algorithm which they're very secretive about. Sometimes it's the meta description, sometimes it's the first paragraph. It's all guesswork. It can also take months toupdate, depending on the amount of traffic to your site and how often Google spiders you.

All you can really do is to write good descriptive copy on each page, relevant to what the url and keywords are, and then pray to every God that google uses a description for your listing that you're happy with.
