Home cinema and big screen gaming PC

Got my main rig upstairs (spec as per sig)
The hifi setup and screen etc have been around a while I have the PS3 wired in, but I weanted to see what PC gaming on a big screen was like with the full on 7.1 surround sound. Everything on the rack is connected through the AV amp, so can be output onto the monitor or the screen or both.
Its an i7 rig with a 4870x2 only problem was I had to use a rather crappy case as the sonata III I originally planned for would not fit in the gap.
All fans are on controlers so they can be turned down when listening to music/film etc
Apologies for quality of pictures.

Nice setup mate - notice all the remotes there. Have you thought about getting a Harmony Universal remote?
The remote for the cinema amp works as a universal, but to be honest when u use the universals you spend so long navigating between diferent modes that it's so much quicker to just pick up the remote you want + some of my separates are quite old so the universals won't work with them.
There are 450 DVDs there (not a bad porn collection!!!). All the music on the CDs have been ripped onto the hard drive. One day i'll get round to transferring my vinyl
DVD storage is from IKEA (where else) I wanted something that wouldn't protrude too much into the room and it was best option for me. its made up of 6 tall thin units, sorry can't remember the name of them, but they do them in diferent colurs

@G-Dubs - hi there, please can you tell me more about the laptop-style keyboard/mouse tablet you have inbetween your deck and your ps3... looks very handy...

Its a keysonic jobby, cost about £35 I think. It works by bluetooth and is essentially the same as a laptop keyboard minus the screen. I use it where it is or can pick it up and sit with it at the sofa. The track pad it has means I don't need a mouse. When I'm gaming though I use a wired keyboard and optical mouse placed on a couple of those kidney bean shaped laptop trays you can get from IKEA.

are those misson 77ds you have there? i used to have those but regretted selling them the way they spread the sound is great

or having your own house to do it in :P

yeah that does help.
it probably looks like it costs more than it does, most of the hifi is quite old, but unlike pc hardware, for the greater part older hifi can hold it's own against the newer stuff, and in some circumstances actually sound better.
Also, you'd be surprised how little it costs to go down the projector route.
This is the other love in my life (aside from my wife of course)

Spot on , the rear suurounds are the 77ds. they produce a really great ambient sound field, and as you no doubt know aren't intended to be directional. I have a set of Accoustic energy Aegis 1s as rear left and rights which work with the 77s in a 7.1 set up to add that directional focus. The fronts are Bowers and Wilkins DM 604 S3s with a matching centre speaker (thanks go to my brother in law who moved to a smallwer house and needed to get rid of them).
FPSs are great on the system, as the wole scene is nearly life size. i've also just started playing HAWX on it which is quite an experience as you can actually hear the jets passing over head and trying to get position for a shot behind you
