Hi mrk

I demoed quite a few cables including some by chord/russ andrews cables and ended up buying some qed genesis silver spiral. This stuff retails at around £90 - £100 a meter but I managed to get 8 meteres off a roll for £350 and had them temrinated with airlocs (£40)

The cable is superb and extremely thick indeed. It does sound very neutral and I'd only recommend buying it if your system warrants it.

Thanks
Mark

a bit too out of my budget for cables

thanks for the info though, will be able to get some in budget :) my current gale speaker cables are unterminated and on the new speakers sound good but the bass seems to be more in the background than should be. The cables are about 5 years old now though and are likely suffering of age + not suited to these speakers.

my stereo system as it stands has cost me around £7500 but imo worth every single penny.

what speakers are you using maybe this stuff shouldn't be written in this section but I'm new and not sure where to put it. Maybe you could try some QED Silver Anniversary XT at £5/m unterminated?

I actually did some searching around and managed to nab a pair of NVA LS2 cables terminated and at 3metres each for £18 today - Will see what they're like! btw there is a discussion or two on various bits in the cinema/hifi section :)

Just had a good clean (part of the large project known as "cleaning my room") so took a pic.

Excuse the CRT. :o A Widescreen TFT is on its way! :D

Also the keyboard and mouse aint plugged into anything as my PC is currently in bits awaiting some quiet treatment. :)

Those speakers look nice, how much were they if you dont mind me asking?

I was talking to a guy, and he found a pair of mordaunt shorts in Cash Convertors for £20, they were labeled as moredont shorts.

They're Alesis Mk1 Active monitors, I think they were just over £200, now they're up off the desk they're a lot less bass heavy, still budget in terms of monitors but they do the job for me :)

Nice, I think for my first propor setup I'll be looking around 300 quid for amp and bookshelves and get a sub on a 400 quid budget later on.

I am thinking of ordering one as an upgrade from my current 15" TFT, they look superb.

I haven't owned many TFTs but I can't imagine anything better in terms of colours and clarity, there's absolutely no ghosting either and I play a lot of (fast paced) Unreal Tournament :)

The only one I'd like to try at the moment is the NEC 20" as the blacks are supposed to be superb, but it's a lot more expensive.
