I'm moving into a new house in a couple of months. It's a 400-year old cottage, with lots of beams and other old features (some of which are original!). Unfortunately I will have to have my desk in one of the living rooms. I need to buy a new desk, but I don't want a modern one (or, at any rate, not modern-looking).

Any of you guys recall any pictures in this thread or elsewhere that could give me an idea what to look for? I believe my best bet is to look in various antique shops, but thought I might ask here for suggestions

Thanks for the link. Would love to support these guys, but I take it that it is expensive as hell to have a desk custom made by them. But it would most likely be exactly the kind of desk I want
