*** Desk and Room Gallery***

picked it up from argos the other day :p for £10. brilliant.

getting a proper green/blue one for bedroom but for my desk. this one is great !

Here's the one I got from the Bay. Looks great at night. One thing I didn't like about the one from argos was that the white light from the bulb escaped a lot and not much light was given off actually through the bottle.

yeah i seem to get that problem though at first i didnt  now , yeah i do. ive ordered a proper one (so new - original style :D) for bedroom. so hopefully thats better. but for a tenner im not that fussed especially when its from argos. just had an empty space on my desk which needed to be filled.

the clock i have on my desk is brill and thats from argos, large display numbers - easy to read = perfect for a gamer who needs to keep an eye on the time. and as an added bonus it plugs into the mains rather than using endless batteries. i have it on all day :P "going green..." - bring it on ! ;)

Anyone had experience with one of these or anything similar? < http://www.shop-com.co.uk/Rainbow_effect_Lava_lamp_20z-48423464-63072502-p!.shtml?sourceid=309

Also, I'm thinking of getting a new desk and arranging my room like this: http://hackeron.dyndns.org/My Room-frombed.jpg

I don't really the idea of mounting a second display to my current desk somehow or mounting to the wall, a bigger desk is the way to go me thinks.

got one in the post and should be here tomorrow if if its anything like the one i ordered. ill let you know !

Thanks :) - looks like this kind of lava lamp could be damn near perfect as the behind monitor lighting, will create a warm and relaxing night light with moving rainbow colours.

Currently the screen brightness is quite overwhelming at night even at minimum brightness without any kind of "back light".

The main PC desk & TV in the "tech" room of the house.. It has recently been gutted and I have removed about 4 PC's from this room and all my years of boxes and hardware bits and pieces. All gone up in the loft

40" Sony 2500, 360, HTPC Laptop, Wii etc.. etc.. New 5.1 System coming next week I hope.

And my server with 2 x 500GB's & 2 x 320GB's. I've just ordered 2 x 1TB Drives for it. Been running for years without fail now! Filesever, Printserver, VNC Server running on it, PVR Records direct to it via. network.. It does everything!

How is it as night? -- If you turn all lights off in the room and just have the monitor and lavalamp, does it provide enough of a back light to stop an LCD being overwhelmingly bright?

Also, does it create a kind of relaxing soft moving light on the walls?

If you could take some pictures that would be great :)

Haha, looking forward to your description of it at night :) -- I'm not looking for something that gives off a lot of light, on the contrary, just some light to turn the blackness behind the monitor to something more neutral so it doesn't feel like you're staring at a lightbulb when you don't have the light on in the room.

I plan to put one of these (or something similar) behind my LCD.

ill have to wait and see then....

EDIT: just letting you know that mine gives off a green glow to the walls in about a radius of a foot or so.

i guess it just depends where you position it as mine is at the corner of my desk.

Would you not consider putting both monitor speakers on the same desk ? That would do my nut in having one higher then the other, especially with monitor speakers.

Nice set tho.

Well, really, I'd get rid of the storage units on the left and right and put quality speaker stands with spikes on the bottom filled with sand -- made a *huge* difference in sound quality here with my monitor speakers :D
