Desktop Build - Equivalent or better than Zephyrus G14?

I've been casting a long look at the Zephyrus G14 as a mix of gaming power and portability but realise that actually I can cope day to day with a much lower powered laptop.

That got me thinking; could I get an as (if not possibly more) powerful Desktop Build for a decent price.

I'd been looking at the top end Zepherus which has:
Ryzen R9-4900HS
16GB RAM
1TB SSD
RTX 2060 Max Q

Assuming for my build I'd be keen to keep it small, but all I need is the case/hardware itself - no peripherals or screens, etc - any suggestions?

Something like this would be solid, if you want ITX form factor and portability.

If you have a GPU you could re-use, it may be worth holding off on the GPU order, as Nvidia's next gen stuff is coming out Sep time apparently.

Could maybe swap the AIO and case fans if you wanted a bit of RGB to light it up a bit inside, or if you're not bothered then doesn't matter. They are great performers for the ££ :)

The 3 fans are for 1 front intake and 2 bottom exhaust (GPU heat out). Then you'd mount the CPU AIO on the rear to exhaust.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,317.89 (includes shipping: £0.00)

Thanks Sparx, I'll take a look!

Folks - haven't moved on this yet but seeing the shots of Flight Simulator has me drooling; GPU aside (aware the new stuff is getting launched soon) is the build above still my best bet?

Mostly the same. Stock has changed somewhat though, new ITX cases have come out (CM NR200P), A520 mobos have released, different deals on certain components etc.

Do you really want ITX? Or could you go with a mATX or ATX system? Tbh if you intend to buy a next-gen GPU, you might wanna go micro or ATX to fit the GPU in, the leaked images so far they're huge cards.

Are you looking at waiting a month still, or buying now with a temporary GPU, or getting a current gen GPU still? The new GPUs released next month by Nvidia, will likely be the 3080/90 so very expensive potentially £800+ models. Not 100% on pricing yet. May help drive down current prices slightly though. Probably not much with it being the very top-end models.

I guess case wise it doesn't need to be tiny but I'd still rather keep it smaller if I can; I might start buying some bits now; GPU can wait a few weeks for though

With today's parts and stock, I'd go for this in an mATX build - very compact case so hopefully small enough? :p

32GB RAM seeming you're interested in FS20, appears to take advantage of more RAM and is cheap so may as well. Mobo is in stock at other retailers, OcUK haven't got stock for a while now some reason. Added the 2x 140mm fans for front intake, as only comes with 1x 120mm rear exhaust fan. Then you'd top mount the AIO rad/fans.

Nearly half your budget left over for the GPU then still. :D
