Desktop colour problem

My computer was working fine last night, but when I switched it on this morning the desktop looks like it's in some sort of basic colour mode. My desktop pic of a nice beach now looks like NO SWEARING.

I've tried re-installing the graphics card drivers, but that didn't work. I've also tried switching to 16bit, then back to 32bit.

My spec is in my sig.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Thanks in advance :)

Hi Paul I had that once and it was easily sorted by going into the Ati Colour settings and clicked something like reset or default ... sorry doing this from work so can remember the exact tab name in the CCC.

Hope it helps

Hi,

My HIS X1900XT did this actually shortly before I RMA'd it. I just thought it was a driver corruption as I had swapped over a X1900XT Sapphire with my HIS card.

If you go into the display settings for the desktop image, click on the colour selector to bring up the windows colour palette. See if all the colours have had odd shades added to them. Thats what I found. If I say picked a pastel "blue" I noticed on the colour slider, from halfway down the colour was screwed to like a muddy water colour.

I think it might have been to do with a driver problem. I would try uininstalling the Cat's, then using driver cleaner pro, and then re-installing.

Is it a HIS XT1900XT?

Hope you can fix it,

Mike

Soupy you're a legend. That worked perfectly!!

And thanks for the info Stormy :)
I don't think mine is an HIS. To be honest I can't even remember which kind it was.

Glad I could help Paul, this happened on my recently acquired X800XT-PE but it was nothing to worry about :D

This started happening on my HIS card as well, whenever I booted up. I read somewhere else that turning off VPU Recover would sort it, and it did.

But then, just the other day, it came back again, but it was different colours than before.

Anyway, when I go into Catalyst Control Centre, then to the colour tab, sometimes it lets me click "Reactivate ATI Color Controls" and that puts things back to normal, but sometimes, that option is greyed out.

Clicking defaults sorts it too though. But the strange thing is, the colour values are already set at their default values anyway, 1.00 for gamma, 0 for brightness, and 100 for contrast. So pressing default doesn't actually change these values, but it does fix the colours back to normal!

I think it happens every time I boot up into Windows, but I'll try a few more things to see if I can pinpoint what is causing it.
