I have an GTX275 card , i have my PC monitor connected to 1 dvi socket on my 275 and my hdtv connected to the other dvi socket. I would like to game on my hdtv whilst still display my desktop on my pc monitor. How do i go about doing this as i cant see an option for this on the nvidia CP??

for me i just tell windows [i use amd cards but use windows anyway] to make monitor for games the primary monitor, the second monitor just displays desktop then

Hmm, when i try what you suggested, it disable my hdtv display, and i have to select extend these displays to enable the hdtv display, but then im back at step 1 again

i think i misunderstood, i thought you wanted an extended desktop with half the desktop still displayed on the other monitor,

when what infact you want is a mirror image but without the game over the top?

sorry for the confusion

nah what i want is when i load a game, id like it sent to my 2nd display (HDTV) whilst display 1 still shows the desktp

Which is exactly what he said. I think what you would have to do is extend your desktop using your HDTV as the primary, and chuck everything else you want to see on the other screen. At least, that's what I did before I got my eyefinity setup :)

ok so how would i go about moving the task bar and start menu to the other display then, as i can drag all my desktop icons over to my now 2nd display but the task bar is still on the primary display now?

This is a bit of a pain i though in this day and age the Nvidia CP would have an option where you could select which apps loaded in which display, so you could just add the game to a list and tell is to send it to which ever display on launch!

that drags as well,

unlock it by right clicking on it and selecting the 'lock the taskbar'

put the mouse over the bar, hold down the left mouse, drag it over, it will drag

Ah so it does. I guess its a work anound, but not all the game i will want to play on my hdtv, game like fps and rts ill still want to play with the mouse and pc monitor...bugger!!! Do the ati card have an option in the control panel to do what i want?

Ok a problem im noticing is that all notifications are appearing on the now primary screen even though i have the task bar and everying on my 2nd display, is there a way to change this?

Unfortunatly theres no easy way around this - some games implement the ability to select the display they run on (requires multi-monitor acceleration enabled in the nVidia control panel) - but most don't and will just run on the primary display - which is where windows shoves most stuff too.

im not sure if this is what you mean..

the last box says something about dialog boxes, not sure if its global tho, do nvidia have something similar?

It will move application dialog boxes, but can't always move OS specific ones also doesn't work with everything - like most of the tools for multi monitor management they are cludges at best.

nVidia has similiar - right click on desktop and choose nView properties and under the Windows tab (might need to click enable in Desktop Management tab first) it has similiar options.

i experimented with some of these fancy features in CCC recently, but kept none of them, guess that says it all
