Desktop Random Shutdown

My desktop lately is shutting itself down an awful lot. Perhaps 4 or 5 times in an eight-hour period.
Sometimes when I restart it will again shutdown as the log-in page appears.

I tend to run AutoCAD mainly with a few other basic programs alongside.

- I've cleaned the registry with no problems
- I've checked for overheating and everything seems ok
- I've run a memory diagnostics tool

None of these seem to have solved the problem.

Any ideas?

GPU overheating
PSU fualty - not supplying enough power.
Faulty RAM stick.

Thew issues that this could be.

My gut instinct is that the PSU isn't behaving itself, do you have access to another to try out?

Also is the PC blue screening at all as well?

look in windows event viewer to see what it crashed on,also look at the warnings/errors and see what they are

No blue screen. Literally just powers down to nothing.

Wazza - I think you've cracked it with that advice.
Event Viewer shows 16 critical events over the last seven days, all attributed to "kernel-power".

kernel power just means pc shutdown unexpectedly

any warnings/errors? if you click on each one it should tell you what they are for,memory/cpu ect

No specific info, but a quick google of "kernel-power 41 (63)" tells me it's more than a likely an issue with sound card drivers. Will update drivers...
