Desktop recording software

Is there any decent software that will record your desktop to a video, or a window you select?

All the random free ones seem to be really poor quality..

Any recommendations?

camstudio - free, can encode on the fly with any codec -good for one off video, you need to know a little about encoding though..
camtasia - not free, far easier to use

I have got it installed on both my work machines, play around with the settings first though (especially if you are going to record to flash)

I've used some other ones but found camtasia the best imo
