Help me I'm going mad for some reason my desktop theme keeps changing after reboot.

I have the classic theme but when I reboot it changes to classic theme with XP colours and the sound theme comes back on as well.

you havent renamed your user.dat to user.man under your profile have you? :p

is it just the desktop theme? or the icons etc as well?

Hmm how strange. My thinking was some setting on domain was overwritting it - sure you saw my thought process anyway. if theres nothing else that might be doing that then i think im stumpted!

Well anyway - assuming no account on the PC wants to use themes then disabling it wont cause any problems. Had it disabled on every install of XP i've run for the last few years up till last week and never run into any difficulties. :)

It’s something to do with System Performance options last time I goggled for it. But I like the classic theme and don’t bother me turning them off.

Yah just nuke it from orbit in that case.

If you right click my comp > properties > advance > performance "settings" > the bottom tick box "use visual styles..rar rar rar"

although if thats ticket then themes will run straight away - it shouldnt only apply itself after a restart. But just something to bear in mind
