Destiny 2: PC graphics benchmark

It's software vs hardware thread scheduling I suspect. Nvidia's front end means it can take incoming game code and split the CPU draw calls over different CPU threads, AMD on the other hand has hardware scheduler (slimier to the old Fermi cards) which if the developer hasn't coded for (most don't) you end up overloading the main CPU core at lower resolutions.

Great little tidbit, thanks! Fury/Vega performance makes a lot more sense now.

On a graph sure, but watch any benchmark video Vega 64 really isn't that far behind 1080.
Make of that has you will :)

Obviously, graphs are useless, watching re-encoded videos are a lot more foretelling of what's really happening /s

One day you'll have to stop trying to cling onto every failure as a positive, I'm a glass is half full kinda guy myself, but your glass is overflowing .... :p

Watching the games run in real time is much more telling than a graph. I don't know why more sites don't do it. I get more from sites like digital foundry videos than I do from a chart. They test many points of a game to show how consistent performance is. Still I guess with many cards to test, charts and small runs are a must to get the reviews out in time.

Don't watch for the quality LOL we all know the image quality is worst.. the most important thing is the on-screen information.

TBH, it is very hard to look at 2 let alone 3 or more different videos and keep an eye on the FPS. It can change so much form 1 second to the next that its hard to tell the true performance difference.

the numbers don't lie.

Personally I don't find that hard to do at all. The numbers usually tell you about a 30 second run or a baked in benchmark. Give me 5-10 minutes of watching the game run at different parts to give me a much bigger picture.

980ti 4k on high with motion blur off plays around 45fps in insane combat. Normal combat is around 52fps. Looking forward to new cards rather than buying a 1080ti this late into the 10 series GPU.

Can't wait to try it at 4k on ultra with no problems.

moved to coffeelake (i5 8400) - using a 1080 @ 1440p now getting 110 fps with everything on max (20 fps boost compared to kabylake 7600k @ stock). these extra cores and speed boost does help. i also enabled XMP (3000mhz ram) i never had before as i had no idea you had to. so my ram before was only running at 2100mhz lol.

Why are we still waiting for your epic video footage?

i did make some but with me re-building PC and wiping 3 SSD's it's now gone forever.

I will make some tonight. it will be a 2 minute video of free roam doing public events.

Make it least 5 mins and add in battle with AI after all that is what the game is.. A shooter
Don't want to see you walking around looking at sky lol

what do you think public events are? it's hordes of AI coming at you from different directions. sometimes forcing you to move around the map too.

i'll need to double check all my settings. because when i re-installed it i jumped into playing after only checking a few settings (the game saves them to the cloud and they all looked the same as before). so it may not have been on max when i got the 20 fps boost. but i think it also could be given the jump in speed of RAM (2100 to 3000) and the jump in CPU power 4 cores to 6 cores could easily account for it rather than settings being put back to default.

Make it the single player campaign, first mission. :)

I would need to create a new character for that. something i'm not interested in doing at the moment. however i will be doing it when i've levelled this current one up.

i only have so much precious gaming time so i'm not willing to just effectively spend it doing benchmarks because i could care any less. i'm hitting 110 fps on average with the 1080 with everything (afaik due to re-install) on max.

Not doubting you, FPS are higher online.
