Deus Ex 3

I always thought a prequel would be a better follow up to Deus Ex than a sequel. Either a prequel or based around events that happen concurrently with the original story.

yeah, they made a mistake going with a relatively new story in DX2, They should have kept along the same lines as the original story in DX1.

Relatively ok?

I absolutely LOVED Bioshock. Easily one of the best things I wasted time on in many moons. What didn't you like?

As a huge fan of System Shock 2, I had very high hopes for BioShock. It was a good game, but several things fell short of the mark. It wasn't so much that the game was bad, but that Ken Levine et al promised us a bit more than was delivered in terms of depth of gameplay. Not to mention the end of the game got quite tedious in parts.

I do actually think BioShock is a good game (even a great game) but it didn't quite live up to my expectations. I would have happily forgiven it for that if the promised SDK had ever appeared but that was another thing that was seemingly cut purely to annoy/milk money.

Bioshock is more related to Systemshock.

Indeed. SystemShock 2 was my game of choice. Couldn't quite get into Deus Ex...even though I *really* want to as I regard it as a great game.

Agreed loved SS1 and 2 and DX1 but not DX2 seamed too cut down for me like bioshock and i do think DX3 will be the same because of the consoles but i hope i am wrong.

Deus Ex 1 is the greatest game ever released on the PC. Great, in-depth, intelligent story. Good, varied gameplay. Interesting and comparatively believable characters. Great level design.

Deus Ex 2 was a "consolified" piece of trash. Poor performing and riddled with bugs. Dumbed-down story, and over-simplified interface (universal ammo? Give me a ******* break!).

I'd love it if Deus ex 3 went 'back to basics', took what made the original a sucess, and built upon it. In reality I'm expecting nothing more than another dumbed-down console game. After all, it's being released simultaneously on PS3, xbox and PC.

I would be very surprised if the story has anything to do with JC or Paul.

This game is a prequel set in the time period where mechanical implants were taking off.

Gunther and Anna would be more likely.

It's a smart move tbh, they have a significant leeway to make stuff up without ******* off the fans and will attract the same fans in who want to know how the world get to the point it's act at the time of Deus Ex.

You could even have the start of the grey death.

About Deus Ex 2. I thought it was really good, a bit easy, a bit short, less modding/augmenting, but certiainly worth playing. Towards the latter half of the game the story gets better, and I really liked the black market canisters. Bot Domination was classy

I also am a fan of DX2 (probably because I played it before the original, and thus was able to judge it on merit rather than in comparison), but my thinking is the other way round. I thought the early levels (Seattle, Cairo etc) were very good when you are learning about the world and plot, constantly re-evaulating your allegiances etc and that it tailed off a bit towards the end in terms of those arctic levels, and Liberty Island just didn't seem all that well thought out at all. I ended up having a railgun contest with one of the Dentons out in the open for no apparent reason.... :confused:

DX1 = Great game
System Shock 1 & 2 = great games
Bioshock = Great game
DX was a bit disapointing

Roll on a good DX3 :)

But things are a bit different now. The current consoles are much closer to the performance of current PCs than they were when DX2 came out. Plus consoles now have a higher resolution so they are able to put more information on the screen. Also I think there has generally been a bit of a shift in thinking. Developers don't see the need to dumb things down for consoles so much now. Didn't UT3 get a near simultaneous console release? That doesn't seem like it's been dumbed down at all to me. Not that it was particularly intelligent to begin with, but you know what I mean.

I am a Deus Ex geek, that game was one of the best games I ever played. I still think some of the stuff talked about or happened in the game (world events) was eerily close to some things that's happened today or last few years. For example, at the beginning on the docks with the NYC backdrop, they removed the wtc buildings - small things like that.

system shock 2 was full of bugs when it was released you know, and people had massive problems getting it running and getting hardware sound working. stalker i believe would have been put up there with dues ex and SS2 if it wasnt riddled with bugs on release. its that good now its patched up and been tweaked a bit.

Indeed. PC & Xbox 360 games so far have been totally identical (except Gears of War which had bits added for PC).

Fallout 3 then deus ex 3 , i think fallout 3 is more anticipated game but looking forward to playing both hope they will be good

It's not about hardware performance, it's about target audience. Marketing and demographics.

The fact of the matter is that the vast majority of console games are designed to be easy to get into, with a short learning curve and a lack of depth and complexity (I'm not saying this is neccesarily a bad thing, I like a mindless shooter or a driving game as much as the next guy too).

My only real ray of hope is that bioshock (a very in-depth and complex RPG by console standards) was well recieved on all platforms. If other developers take note and attempt to follow suit, things could look up for DX3 and similar games. I aint holding my breath though.

I really hate the way consoles have "invaded" the PC gaming industy in the last couple of years. We very rarely get epic quality games anymore (like Deus Ex) and when we do, they're usually catered more towards the consoles than to the PC audience. It's understandable really though, since the console market is where the real money is to be had. The percentage of PC gamers with the hardware capable of running todays games is so small, that companies cant afford to cater games to how we would want them.

Indeed. As much as I used to hate the doom-saying, PC gaming is definitely on it's way out. On the bright side, it has meant I've not really had an urge to upgrade my 8800GTS640 I bought *ages* ago (compared to how quickly things advanced only a few years ago). Obviously that's more due to ATI/Nvidia's actions but my wallet isn't complaining.

perhaps, but im perfectly happy dropping resolutions and texture quality etc, I cant afford to upgrade my graphics once a year :p

Anyway, I have my own opinion of where PC gaming is going in the near future, and if i'm right, I wont even need a graphics card anymore :)
