I work in IT for local goverment as a corporate IT Support Specialist. I have my development review tomorrow, where I can request training for the next financial year.
I work in 2nd and 3rd line support. I currently have my MCSE:2003 and a couple of MCTS qualifications. I am thinking of putting forward to upgrade my MCSE to the new track 2008 server. Enterprise Administrator (three exams), I am going on an ITIL course in March. I have thought about asking for Prince2 project management course anyone have any experience of it?
Basically i'm just wondering what other quals I should be looking to achieve this year. I want to be moving jobs later this year. But want to get some training to benefit my next job and this job. I would like a CCNA but they won't finance that as it's not 'directly' related to my job. Are there other MCP's that will be highly desirable? I'm thinking I might upgrade my current Exchange 2003 MCP to the 2007 track, maybe get a SMS MCP?
Any advice on MS quals or things like Prince2 and Itil would be greatly appreciated. I'm just a little out of touch, on what new potential employers 'want' to see.
I already have 6 years of IT behind me also (I know it's not a long, long time) but they have both been pretty high profile jobs. Ideally I want to be looking at 35k ish for my next job if not a little more, but want to back up what I have currently with whatever I can!
