Hi

I have a 5th gen iPod touch that is no longer supported with the latest IOS10.

It had me thinking does that mean I no longer get anymore security updates post 9.3.5. ?

I dont really use it as much now due to doing everything on my iPhone SE so I was thinking maybe signing out of the device and just keeping it as a backup for all my songs as I have a lot of hard copies on the device.

I tend to just stream most music now days.

Just curius as to what people do when there apple devices are no longer supported with new versions of iOS.

I suspect that's probably intentional, slowly cripple devices with OS upgrades (that you can't roll back) until you're forced to upgrade.

Having said that my iPad 4 (released 2012) is still usable with iOS10.

Yep, I decided to sign out of my iPod touch as I don't use it since getting the iPhone SE.
I will keep it still as I have a lot of music on the device which I don't have backed up anywhere else, although its synced over iCloud for streaming on my iPhone.

Same as you we have an iPad 4th gen which looks like it just scrapped in with ios10 support but I will hold off updating that for now. Its showing its slowness as well but its still fine.
