Devolo dLAN Highspeed Starter Kit ?

I use these to connect my media centre in my livingroom to my network in my study to stream music/video, they work great!

What do you want to know?

the kit is pretty expensive. why not go wireless route. Wireless router and card is pretty cheap these day and have room for expansion.

Sorry thelostsoul for the late reply!

They work straight out of the box with the standard encryption/password phrase this can be changed with the software. As for LAN Gaming not really to sure I use mine to stream video/music to my Media Centre with no problems.

homeplug is expandable, its much much easier to setup and has less to go wrong than wireless. Its expensive but then so are the more reliable wireless kits.

Yep, big thumbs up for Devolo plugs from me.

I know two people who have ditched wireless after getting fed up with it dropping out etc and have been delighted with these devices. I got a pair for my Dad and they were so easy to setup and haven't had any problems at all. I just wished they had been around a few years ago, when I went through the hassle of wiring a 30m Ethernet cable from my hall, up the stairs and across the landing.

Apart from being slightly expensive they rule. I cannot understand why more people don't use them. I would recommend over wireless every time, unless you really do want to be surfing the net in the garden!

Thanks to all for taking the time to reply, i have made my mind up to get this kit. I know it will probably be more expensive than a normal wireless setup, but a lot less messing about.
