Hey all,

I'm looking at buying a circular saw, either the DEWALT DWE576K (already has indents for guide rails) or the Makita HS7611J (have to buy an adaptor, but equals same price).

Cannot decide which to buy, Makita looks like it has better grip, visibility of what I'm cutting. However the Dewalt already has the indents for guide rails.

The Makita has slightly more power too.

Any suggestions which I should go for.

Thanks in advance.

Ps

I don’t have a circular saw currently and can’t afford buy a tracksaw or table saw yet, hence going with the above.

Have you considered the battery you're buying into? If you plan to buy more tools in the future (combi-drills, impact drivers etc) you probably want to stick with the same brand so you can swap batteries.

After a tonne of research I've recently started going down the Makita route. Not tried the circular saw though.

How much is the adapter for the Makita? The Dewalt is a fair bit more expensive at a quick glance, so it might work out similar with the adapter. I'd imagine you wont go far wrong with either. The base looks more robust on the Dewalt to me as the Makita looks to be quite thin sheet metal, vs the Dewalts cast base.

As DXP has pointed out, they are both 240v :p

and to the OP, I think you will find the Dewalt the slightrly better option of the 2 simply as it is a bit more expensive and as far as I can tell Makita and Dewalt are very closely priced.
I have battery Makita drills and (a slightly cheaper) 240v Dewalt circular saw and they are all decent quality kit

The proper comparison of them are:

Dewalt
1600 Watt
5200rpm
Depth 61mm
Price £168 + £46.99 for rail = £214.99 total.

Makita
1600W
5500rpm
Depth 65mm
£112 + £47.30 for adapter + £50 for rail = £209.3 total.

The specs are very helpful.

I'd take the Makita because the specs (rpm/depth) are slightly better. Both are great brands.
