Is there any way to change the gear knob so that when I pull it towards me it goes down in gear and when I push it away it goes up without sacrificing the flappy because default settings its the inverted the wrong way round.

Shift has an in-game option for inverted gears, you should try in default DFGT profile to see if you can reassign the gears.

What if I swapped the buttons in action map?
