Ive installed 3 drives on the silicon Raid section of my DFI lanparty motherboard which seemed fine untill i installed the softraid5 driver then all 3 drives dissapeared, I have now removed the drivers from their folder on the hard disk drive and the driver is not installed, all 3 drives are accessible fine now but every time i boot up i get some irritating "searching for drivers for new hardware" thingy, it obviously cannot find these drivers which is fine but how do i stop this coming up again?

Any idea's

Thanks

I think it would help to understand what is causing this :)

Right, to use the "Soft Raid5" of the Sil controller you need to go into the main bios (NOT the RAID bios!) and chang the setting for the RAID bios....(NOT the nv one obviously)...

There's 2 settings for RAID on the Sil controller, "SATA RAID BY OLD BIOS", and another one....

To use RAID5 you need to set it to the other one, just called SATA RAID or something like that.

Then goto google and do a search for "Sil3114" a link to the Sil website should come up, you should then download the DRIVER for the SOFTRAID5 BIOS for Windows XP.

To be honest though, its really not a good idea to use the SoftRaid5 on this controller its software based obviously, its not a very reliable controller and the implentation is poor and eats cpu cycles for breakfast (The implementation is TOTALLY software based = total rubbish)...

Use "SATA raid by old bios" and the old normal non=softraid5 driver if you want things smooth.
