DFI newbie :)

I got my hands on a DFI LP RDX200 CFDR which I am using with an A64 3500+ 939 which CPUz detects as a Newcastle chip.

I am used to overclock 939 with NF4 and A8N boards which is a walk in the park. However.... I am stuck and not moving anywhere with the DFI.
I've been through various threads on DIYstreet looking for a clue but nothing so far.

I can play around with RAM fine and lower the DDR speed to 143mhz. I can tweak timings fine. I lowered HT aswell as I want to find max CPU.
As soon as I touch CPU FSB, even by 5mhz, system wont post proper.

Spec:
A64 939 3500+ Newcastle with x11 multi.
2x1gb Kingston cas3 (runs 2,5 fine)
Tagan 2force 530W
X1800XT 512mb with AC Accelero 2

After some research and more testing I have come to the conclusion the CPU is possibly the worst clocker I have ever owned
It fails at a whooping 230HTT with 1.71v, LOL
Ah well, it can manage a 200mhz overclock which seems to be about right for 939 Newcastles.

What speed's the ram at when you're HTT's at 230?

I had a SLi DR that ran my Opty 165 at 312mhz 24/7.

I put RAM speed right down to 143 to be able to find CPU max core.
When running 3dm01se which I use first to look for any little sign of stability the CPU craps out at 220mhz This is with RAM running way below 200mhz.

This is not a bad clocker, it stinks!

Ah well got it for £18 on the auction site so I cant complain.

24500 ish on 3dmark01 SE.... that is with an X1800XT 512mb, clearly the CPU is the bottleneck here.
Tested NFSMW at 1024x768 and had 30-40 FPS regardless of video settings.

It will run WOW which is really all that matters in this case
