DFI NF3 250GB Socket 754

Hmm yeah. I should have got it when I had money in my debit account lol. Spent it on the 7800 lol.

Wish they do accept cheques nobody can confirm that?

Very nice motherboard, probably the best 754 AGP motherboard for overclocking.

I have to say though that I had a few stability problems with mine to begin with, but once I flashed the board to the latest BIOS it seemed fine.

At the moment I've got my 3200 rinning at 2420Mhz.

About as far as I can go though as I've only got value type memory.

I got 2 of these boards.

I also have found it to be a seriosuly good clocker, Have taken a 3000 Nukie 3000 to 2.8 also, but currently running it at 2.5 ( Not my main system, so not seen a reason to push my luck too much )

One of the boards is dead, which is a shame, but the other is good.

Erm, Stability?

Yes, I too found that at first, RAM was the culprit, but recently its been ok... I just put 2+2 together and realised I have been fine since flashing the BIOS.

only had one for a short while and sold it to someone off these forums. Regret selling it to be honest. Arguably the best motherboard ive ever owned.

Doosht

Lets face it... If you want 100% reliable, then you suffer quite often from a slow PC.

I have an IWILL XP333-R Motherboard here... I love it. Its never crashed its never causes me any issues at all, and its been pretty much the most perfect Motherboard I have ever owned!

The snag is, that its bloody slow.

I mean, in it, I am using an XP2000, and that very same CPU in a VIA Motherboard gets much better benches across the board.

So, ok, this is a silly comparison I know, but the fact is, that with many boards like the DFI's, what you are going to have, its a very nippy system right off the bat, and then you can take it further.... And further...

Its sometimes the price you pay.

Again, slightly untrue, but its one way to look at it.

I have to say, that at first, I wasnt too impressed with my DFI LP250GB UT, and had more crashes thana test dummy, but after a BIOS update, it seems to be rock solid, and has taken the NewCastle to 2.8 with little effort, and is current running it at 2.5 and I have not had any issues at all.

Exactly the same experience here mate, it seems like DFI sorted out a lot of the problems with the BIOS update and I've had hardly any blue screens of death since I flashed mine.

I take your point that with a motherboard like this designed to get the maximum performance from the components it wouldn't be surprising if something had to be sacrificed somewhere. Still, along with my Abit NF7-S it's one of the best boards I've ever owned :)

Ditto on the NF7S too mate.

Still got mine, have no intention of letting it go.

Its got a Barton in it now and its brilliant.

On the BSOD issues with the DFI, I have to admit, that I flashed it a while back now... Maybe a few weeks, but I have only just put 2+2 together and realised that it was the FLASH that cured the BSODs... Since then, I have had absolutely no issues what-so-ever, and even when I took the Newky up to 2.8 it was solid, I only backed off cos I am a chicken and had no need to clock it at all ... I just did cos, well... Its a DFI innint!!! - You just dont buy a DFI and not overclock... Its like buying food and not eating!

But, for the last few weeks, I have pushed the board around a bit and not had any issues at all.

mate that food analogy had me rofl'in, top stuff :D

the custom bios's for the dfi and the nf-7 are very highly rated

OTTOMH I dont have a clue which BIOS I used for either the DFI LP, or the NF7S but yes, both boards do have BIOSes out there that are so werid and obscure that do all kinds of silly things including making the tea...

Sometimes you just got to try and try and try until you get one thats right for your board.

I am sure however, that the NF7S has Abits own D27?

The DFI... Erm.. 623 I think?

Both rock solid.

Ok, so 623 isnt the latest BIOS, but hell, its running perfect, so I have no need to update it right now.

Knowing my luck, I will be back to SQ1!
