DFI SLI-DR Question

Hello All

I have a DFI Lanparty SLI-DR and have been running it stabely for months without any problems but someone has questioned my setup.
Look at the below picture and see the socket circled in red:

Someone has said that socket is needed to be plugged in for board stability but I have been running for months without it and had no problems.
Is it really required?
 
In a word YES! Now - obviously if you've had no issues then great, but the guys at DFI are *very* clear about this - there are four plug-in points on your Mobo - and all 4 must be used - you have been warned!
