i am looking to get the DFI board as i am told it is very good with overclocking.. and im going for the 4400 chip with a 7800GTX.

i was looking at some G.Skill 2GB DDR HZ PC4000 (2x1GB) CAS3 Dual Channel Kit
i just want to know what the 4400 will clock at with this ram, i dont really understand. that memory should run at 250 and if the chip runs the same i should get 2.5Ghz with a 10x multiplier. is this correct or am i getting it wrong?

any help would be aprechiated... thanks in advance

is there much difference for the £60?

There is quite a lot of difference, plus with the Expert being SLI, will give you an option of upgrading to SLI should you want to go down that route.

The main differences I would say are:-

AMD socket939 Athlon FX55+ & Athlon X2 CPU supported
SLI VGA Mode
Four Serial ATA ports supported by the nForce4 SLI chip
Four Serial ATA ports supported by the Silicon Image Sil 3114 chip
Magnetic-levitate fan on chipset heatsink
100% Japanese Capacitors/ 4 phase PWM

Most of the things you said are on the ultra-d too.

its only SLi and 8 Satas it cant do.
Tis a great board. the expert isnt worth the money IMO

Welshtom is right, the only benefit the expert has are the 8 phase power controll and bios controlled SLI.

The Ultra-D will be fine, or failing that the normal SLI-DR if you need more than 4 sata ports.

That is right but I have to run my San Diego 3700+ at the default multiplier of 11x, if I select 10x I get a non booting system, if you suffer the same getting to 250Mhz HTT (FSB) might be difficult as you would have to have two cores that run stable at 2750Mhz

im so confused now. if i can drop the multiplier down to 10 and use 250fsb i should get 2.5GHz and fast ram??? which would be good but Dutch guy said he couldnt drop his multiplier??? with the Ultra-d. should i get the expert one.. i have decided to go with the X1800XT 256 which saves me 50quid over the 7800gtx 256 so i could get the expetboard if it is actually worth the extra, if i can get the multiplier down.? HELP!!!!

I don't know about the new board but all the early nf4 ultra's can be easily modded to SLI (so the SLI-D) with just a pencil. The chipset already supports all the features and you just need to bridge two points under the chipset heatsink and there you have it, an SLI mobo. I might do this as I'm thinking about upgrading my graphics.

early ones yes, but the later ones are a bit trickier yes? heard they cut the lines with a laser i think

as far as the mobos go, love my sli-dr and ultra-d :D

both are sweet!
