....I went back to an older firmware

I set up the router and it was working fine but would lose sync after 5 mins and then wouldn't work until a reboot. I tried various things to get it working. Unplugged the phone, made sure the cables were all good and as free from interference as I could manage. But it would still drop the connection. So I checked out the firmware and I was already running the latest stuff, but I decided to drop back to an older version and it's been working fine all day.

A bit odd don't you think?

How do they look?

Perfect, you should get the full 8mbit with MaxDSL.

Edit: No, reread the original post.

Sounds like it could be a faulty router, no other real reason for it

Newest firmware did weird things with mine too. It would just never synch, like the modem was not working correctly. Im on 2.10.22 and everything is perfect. Weird.

Well I've come down this morning and it's still connected :D
Must be something up with the firmware. Just need to wait for 8mb now :p

What version of the router is it out of interest, the v1 or the v2? I've got a v2 running the latest firmware with no problems at all, however my folks have the v1 and can't get the latest firmware to run at all it just crashes the router in exactly the same way you discribed.

It's a V2.

Bang goes that theory! :p

Have you tried a hard reset after the flash to the 3.xx firmware? Long shot but it can sometimes help.

Fail that the 2.10.22 firmware is rock stable(well for me it was) just stick with that for the meantime.

Here comes another bang :p

It arrived already with the latest V3 firmware which wouldn't work. I just opted to try the V2 firmware and it's worked fine since.

LOL! Only netgear could do that!
I'd wait for the next firmware release if the same thing happens, then RMA it to netgear under warranty for a replacement.
