I have a parcel coming from these guys and they have only made the one attempt and now it says shipment on hold yet i have no idea why as it's been on hold for three days now.

Also their local depot to me is 8 miles away and yet their tracking says it's at exeter a depot 100 miles away?!

How flexible are they, are they as much of a joke as i assume they are guessing how ocuk now use dpd?

Any suggestions would be great.

What is your parcel number? I'll find out exactly what is going on.

What is the exact wording for your latest tracking status?

There is no such status as 'Shipment on hold'.

I had a laptop going to the mother in law in cornwall, was delayed for 4 days to the weather, yours is probably the same, was DHL too.

Delivery attempted; recipient not home

With delivery courier

They have only attempted once.

Id be very surprised if it's the weather, it's not as bad down this way and all other parcels have been fine.

I've always found them useless. Deliverys never came when they were supposed to, half the time they didn't even attempt delivery, parcels kept getting sent to a depot 45 minutes away rather than the one down the road...

Exactly that's what is going on here i have a depot just 8 miles away and i've been there before why leave it at a depot 100 miles away beggars belief, it's only a £15 item as well so no way im driving up for the thing i'll just refuse to use them again.

I got my Current PC from OcUK, As always, it was sent with no problems. However DHL "Lost" it ( Or so the manager at the Edinburgh Depot said ). I was totally fuming.

They phoned 2 days later and told me they found it at the back of a truck.

In short, Yes, id say they are useless.

Sorry can't access the international system. It's not in your local depot because we have effectively 3 different businesses, domestic, sameday and international. We can't just sub-contract between them due to the charging issues and problems if someone has to RTS, and some insurance reasons.

Your parcel may be awaiting further customs clearence (even if its been out, if it's gone back to a holding area that is air-side)

the customer may be on credit-stop. You better hope not!

but it's probably the weather.

Ironically none of these are DHL's fault!

however if you give the airway number to customer services they'll tell you the exact problem in about 10 seconds.

(Also- where the previous poster says 'as usual it was sent with no problems' this is actually a huge compliment to DHL who 'as usual' picked it up without problems :)

DHL aren't fully integrated, so I'd guess that the depot local to you is a domestic only and therefore don't handle international deliveries.

EDIT
I was right, as britboy4321 has just confirmed :D Non-integration is a MASSIVE pain for customers because the seperate divisions are just that - almost totally seperate areas of DHL's business. Integration is time consuming and disruptive, and now that Deutchpost have sold of DHL Express domestic it will probably never happen.

Hey Lopez -- we (DHL domestic) has been sold as a business hook-line and sinker! Within a year our funky yellow vans will no longer be on the roads. Instead flashy new 'HDN' trucks will replace them.

The HDN boys reckon they can finally nail the ominous B2C market (including last mile) and keep the B2B. They're gonna have to double their capacity to take us on. You TNT boys happy or sad or indifferent about this effective massive combining of two of your competitors? I'd be worried for your B2C but not too fussed about your B2B if I were you ..

We lose the 'DHL' brand -- but as you've read in this very thread .. it's hardly worth it's weight in gold anyways ... we tried full integration (economies of scale and all that) when domestic was bought from Securicor Omega (anyone remember that?) but apart from little bits of success, it was too hard!

EDIT - oh -- you knew all that anyways!! :)

I don't know what the beat of the jungle drums is saying in the sales rooms, but from my point of view in CS it won't have a direct impact as such. B2C is a "sideline" for us really but it's all revenue at the end of the day.
We don't actively encourage B2C, it's not our primary target market

The customers I look after don't trust DHL to handle timed or sensitive material any more, so they might consider using DHL again when the revamp/changeover happens, but given that lots of the staff and network will remain the same, maybe they won't!

Well that's a bit cutting off ones nose to spite your face surely?

Fair enough thanks for explaining that, i'll phone them up tomorrow just to see what is going on, can't afford to miss another delivery so something needs to be sorted.

This is my first problem with dhl up until now they're been fine it's usually citylink that are a nightmare.....
