On a side note; how to view your health / mana as a number? Assuming Intelligence is not the mana amount; I'm struggling to know what my mana is or see an obvious indicator aside from the bubbles where it is at. I seem to find new sub menus by randomly clicking in L3 and R3 in certain screens but yet to see this information.

Just bring up the profile page for your character - on the top left it shows a few stats, one of which is health. For more detailed stats, press L3 ( with profile sheet open ) which will open up a side panel. From there you need to change the tab at the top to stats then scroll down to find total health, max mana and a whole myriad of other detailed stats. It's easier to navigate on PC using a mouse & keyboard vs using a controller ... you can just hover your cursor over things and get an instant tooltip/value.
