Diablo similar game

You just don't know how to play it properly! The balance between passive and active skills is perfect and character development and item farming are equally as good. The game is a little unbalanced once you get to know it and know how to farm, but that's because IronLore went bust

I'm with Deific on this one, I never found Titan Quest & expansion anything better than a filler game. I wanted to love it, I really did, but it was just so bland and souless. The skill trees are decent, as are the classes, but the game never drew me in. I did complete it, but never progressed to the higher difficulties, it was just too 'samey' in a way D2 never seemed.

If only they'd update D2 online to a decent res.

I finished TQ (which is rare for me) and then bought the expansion- which I never played. My first problem with TQ was the look of the character: aside from the fact that different levels of kit made little difference tot he look (yes, I know he was meant to look like an Ancient Greek) they ran everywhere like they had major back pain. The skill trees were limited by the fact that half the skills were useless, and half the rest only useful at low levels. At least you could re-roll to a degree though. I found Sacred 2 much better once you get past the unusual classes. And the makers of that game went under too - looks like on WOW can make this formula work. But TQ and S2 are still just pale shadows of D2.

i liked Titan Quest + Immortal Thrones.

Also likes Sacred 2 but i found the skills to be quite rubbish tbh so i ended up just running through the last half of the game with a trainer just so i could finish the story. visually the game was stunning though, on par or just a bit better than Titan Quest.

looking forward to Torchlight 2 though. :)

I don't understand why so many people like Titan quest. Most of the skills are passive skills so until you get the to a really high level most of the time you're just pointing and clicking your basic attack. Utterly utterly boring. I couldn't bring myself to play any longer once I reached half way into the second chapter.

I would argue that it's a hackn'slash game so this it what it does (just like Diablo and Diablo II) and it does it very well.

Can't really imagine many points in Diablo II where you would hack anything with a basic attack to be honest.

I remember Loki being terrible as well. Was that the game where the character turned in only 8 directions even though it was 3D? :p

Titan Quest is a gem that a lot of you are missing out on! To be good, and to make the game even better you need to really plan your build so you're not wasting points and using basic attacks at the start of the game.

Once you do get passed the main game you then have the enjoyment of farming, which you will enjoy if you like Baal runs etc. :p

Not sure why a lot of people didn't enjoy it really, it's the perfect while-you-wait for Diablo 3 game.

Bring on Diablo 3!

i dont understand why people didnt like dunsgeon siege 2 (i did)... i thought it was a pretty good step up from DS1 which i also liked.

Loki was ok, i liked playing the norse with fist weapons, physically hitting monsters actually felt pretty good, like real effort/ force was put in if anyone understands what i mean lol. the problem with that game was even with a great computer it seemed to lag a lot, particularly in the lava areas.

Dungeon Siege 2 was excellent. Only problem is, it never pulled me into playing the higher difficulties.

Still need to get the expansion for that one actually.

sorry for bump, but i was thinking of trying diablo 2, but after some research should i try torchlight as its a bit more up to date?

cheers.

i would urge anyone to do the same, and also it may appear in the sales on steam over the xmas period

when does the sale period start? is it beginning fo december or a lot closer to crimbo?.. i don't like waiting but don't like wasting money either.. what an eejit i am eh :D

Also can you play diablo 1 and diablo 2 in 1920x1080?

Yes, but the last time I tried the res mod it was NASTY. I prefer just playing in windowed mode, works nicely and doesn't require any hacks/mods.

Diablo II is the better game, however you'll probably find Torchlight easier to get into as it's newer. Torchlight lacks depth and only has one town unfortunately, but it's still a very good game. Torchlight II is looking good!
