Hey guys, just tried to log onto my old account and says my character is expired or something like that.

Cant i get it back? :eek:

Unfortunately you cant. If you haven't used a character for over 90 days, its gone forever im afraid

90 days? Seems a bit harsh. I can maybe understand purging characters untouched for a year, but that seems a bit draconian, they can't take up that much tablespace surely?

Anyone know if you get a warning email sent out from Battlenet if your char is about to get nuked?

Don't think so, certainly don't remember getting any emails when I used to play back in the days near its release. I had my account wiped a few times, I'd always start the game and give up by the end of Act 2, wait a few months, then decide to play again!

My brother had a load of level 85+ characters, all got deleted.

No warning.

It quite clearly states when you log in to battlenet or create a character that they are removed after 90 days inactivity.

It's the same for Starcraft stats. Wiped after 90 days. Been the same for 9 years so shouldnt be any surprise now tbh.

Try some of the newer games. I find Titan Quest far better then Diablo 2

not in my opinion, its ok but it doesn't have that certain something that diablo 2 has. I found dungeon siege to be the game closest to it. Im waiting for diablo 3 though.

In that case try the baldgurs gate series. It was everything Diablo wanted to be!

Fair enough but an automated warning email say 7 days prior to deletion wouldn't go amiss, giving people a reminder to go login if they want to save a character.

Diablo isn't anything like BG. Diablo is an action-rpg-clickathon.

BG is a pure turn-based, party-led RPG.

Both cracking games in their own rights, have enjoyed both.

We need D3! And we need a new BG-style game (better than NWN series). Bring on Dragon Age!

Titan Quest with the addon pack is well worth looking at. It might not be for eveyone but most Diablo fans seem to like it.

Ive not played a game with as good an online experience as diablo though. Server side character storage is really decent.
