My poor stock baby, is throwing a tantrum, under just surfing load like 0-10% its at 52c, im performing memtest on 1gig of my ram and its 77/73 on either core, Im hoping it just needs a reseat/ and new thermal paste.

EDIT now 80/79 =[

This hot weather doesnt help at all either.

thats no excuse re-seat your HSF as she/he said.

Also your BIOS may be Overvolting your cpu causing the excessive heat. so check in the Bios options

My friend I wasnt suggesting to reseat because of warm weather !!!

But an e8400 sitting above 50 degrees at idle would almost certainly need reseating !
Bear in mind The op states the cpu is running "stock"
I run 1.4v through mine and idle temps are around 36 so I doubt voltages would be causing this idle temp problem

Hi guys, i tried reseating and it went to 71c =[ lol, so brought a new aftermarket cooler/heatsink fitted now and running at 31c idle! my mobo is 44c, but im hoping thats ok, i think i set the new cooler up wrong as it blows towards the case instead of out.

Yeah i brought some canned air and gave it a good clean but even after that it was messed. Do my temps for mobo seem high?
