Ah. Have fixed it today. Issue was with the SSD I believe.

I guess it corrupted so I've had to wipe everything. Something like this has happened before where I've had to wipe the whole computer so it's good that I'm in the habit to have my docs on a cloud etc.

Yeah if it's getting as far as beyond the splash screen and showing a blinking underscore, I'm 99% sure it's a drive issue of some sort...

Have you gone in to the BIOS and checked it's in the right boot mode? (i.e. if it was an old install, set the BIOS to enable CSM/Legacy boot option - should be somewher in the boot/SATA options!)
(that tripped me up after a BIOS update recently :p )

Edit: If the problem suddenly appeared after booting without any changes it's probably not that, sorry, thought it was after the motherboard upgrade! In which case probably dead ssd or corrupted install
