did anyone actually own a NEO GEO ?

I got a neogeo and metal slug game for my birthday when I was 11.
I did and I had the special memory cards so that you could play in the arcade and put your card in the Arcade machine to save your position.
You could then play it later in the arcade and carry on or if you had the same game at home carry on from there.
One of the best features I have ever seen in a games console.
It's problem was it was way too far ahead of it's time and was over priced for what it was.

Yep and the unit cost around 400 quid, I didn't own one in the 90's but played on one a fair bit around that time. In the whole school I think there was only 1 kid who owned one.
I did buy two of them (mint boxed) when I started collecting machines around 2004 quite cheap from Ebay.

From what I remember, the main staple of the Neo Geo was fighting games.
Shoot em ups as well.

Yeah me and a friend both had them
and we werent that rich honest just well into our gaming 
us both having one made it easier as we could swap games. I also remember buying most of our games second hand for about £50 which still wasnt cheap at the time.
I loved shooters so obviously had a PcEngine with cd-rom back in the day too to see that thing throw around sprites was amazing lol.

I had a mate with a neo geo pocket colour (got him one for a wedding gift a few months back as a random surprise) but never the home console.
Did how ever spend 20 mins in a games shop round by Goodge street eyeing up the original cartridge one in mint condition for £250. Each game was £80-90 and the memory card was £30
Shame I was having a look for N64 to celebrate a new uni place and not a job as Id have been tempted....

Wanted a Neo Geo sooo much but they were far too expensive I loved the size of the carts as well.
Also don't know why but I always wanted one of these when I was a kid.

Yup had one for about a year, traded in/bought second hand games mostly, even so they were still expensive, ended up trading it in for an american snes with about 12 games or something.
Games i remember having were fatal fury, art of fighting, football frenzy, nam 1975 & thrash rally. I was able to complete nam1975 with 1 credit at one point.
..but tbh that usa snes was even more awesome.

I've got 2 now, with around 48 home carts.
2D fighting dreamland, and good old fashion(90s) arcade action to this day.
Unique console, as it was and will ever be the only home console where its games were exactly the same as an arcade machine.

My friend had one. I remember the graphics were mind-blowing on it, but I only remember him having one game
Magician Lord ? I am sure it came with that back in the day.
I always wanted one too but i knew it was never going to happen. You certainly needed to be quite well off to be able to afford not only the console but a collection of games.
I am also on the lookout for one nowadays, no rush but if ever i am at a boot sale and the price is right then i'm in.
