Did anyone else hear an air raid siren?

I'm thoroughly confused now! The article says the fire is in London, but you are in Aberdeen? I'm sure my geography isnt that bad but those two arent that close right lol

Don't mind me, I'm just making a passing comment on sirens :p

Air raid sirens are being tested because of the imminent risk of a nuclear attack by Iranian ICBMs - TRUE DAT

Probably best to launch a preemptive defensive attack ;)

Air raid sirens are still going on.

It's so weird, I didn't think I'd ever actually hear those things in my lifetime.

Must be terrible to be awoken by it, especially if you're old.

In the town I used to live they tested the air raid siren (I think it was first Sunday of each month or something). It is rather weird being woken up by a WW2 air raid siren going off.

Hmm one caller to the BBC said

"you can't see your hand in front of your face. It's like a smelly fog. BRAINS"

Is this the start of the zombie apocalypse?

I used to hear one every week - I think it's Mondays, at 9am, where they sound one off at Devonport dockyard, in Plymouth.

When I was based down there (fresh out of training), nobody told me about the fact they test it every Monday morning - so the 1st time, I was sitting in my office really excited to start working, and then BAM! Heard this and absolutely **** myself!!! :(

They all got a bit of a laugh out of it though.... :D

surprisingly, many of us that grew up in the 70s/80s, especially around coastal areas (the wash especially) will remember the air raid sirens being tested regularly, as they were used as part of the coastal defence network. And why do they use ww2 era air raid sirens? because they work so damn well..

Oh the memories...

Still get them testing every year or so around Spalding...

Yup, we get them tested regularly. I find them a little unnerving, considering what they were originally used for.

We had ours in Grimsby changed and they are now used as Flood Warning Sirens. Occasionally get tested and wake me up on sunday mornings. Damnit
