What a great program!!

For those that missed it:-
BBC2 - Sat 24th 20:25 - Greatest Raid of All Time
BBC2 - Mon 26th 19:30 - The Making of Jeremy Clarkson: Greatest Raid of All Time

Jeremy Clarkson tells the story of what has been called the original Mission Impossible - the audacious commando raid on the German occupied dry dock at St Nazaire in France on March 28th 1942. Operation Chariot, as the raid was codenamed, had a simple aim: to destroy the dry dock and thus deny the German battleship Tirpitz a safe haven on the Atlantic coast of France.

Puts a hard day at the office in context!!

I thought it was great. Nails ********. Can't believe out of 600+ men, when faced with what they thought was nearly certain death, not one of them backed out when given the opportunity.

Thanks for the heads up on the repeat time, sadly missed it. Clarksons prog on Victoria Cross winners was superb TV and wouldve liked to have seen this too.

Agreed. Excellent programme. I'm glad I overcame my prejudice against Jeremy Clarkson in order to watch it. Just possibly, I may watch some other programme of his at some time in the future, now.

The bit where he was explaining the 'plan' was  .

It just proves that million to one shots come off 9 times out of 10.

To be fair if Mountbatten had really wanted to give them the chance to back down he would have called each man into his office privately and asked him.

On the parade ground in front of all your mates is not the time to step forward and say 'errr actually I'm not sure I fancy this one.'

Agreed, not to take anything away from their bravery, but privately I bet a fair few thought "this is bloody nuts, I aint leavin' blightly for this".

I really enjoyed this. I can't imagine how I would cope under similar circumstances, entering into a situation with bullets flying everywhere with a very good chance of one of them hitting me! Would I be able to conquer my fear and get on with the job in hand or would I spend the whole battle trying desperately not to get shot?

I would have never expected to see Clarkson playing the drumms, Hamster was doing ok at the bass too

Oh yeah, did anyone see Top Gear Top of the Pops?

Maybe it will be repeated on the day/time mentioned in the original post? Who knows!

It doesn't say it's going to be repeated, it says:
BBC2 - Mon 26th 19:30 - The Making of Jeremy Clarkson: Greatest Raid of All Time
By that, I thought he meant it was the behind the scenes version of the program.

are you blind? I mean, you quoted the line immediately after the line that says when the repeat is :/
