Just recieved the zotac nvidia geforce gtx 1060 from OC.
plugged it in and fired the PC up...

nothing... monitor getting no signal.
card appears powerd up ... fan running .

Put old card back in .... Im here typing ... so the Mobo is functional.

My mobo meets all the requirements as specified on the box.
PCI Express compliant .. check
1 dual width x16 slot .. check
6 pin power supply .. check
350 mb HD space .. 100's of gb free
4gb ram .. system has 16gb
Windows 7 64 OS .. check

My mobo is getting old but still works fine.
Its a Asus p5q3 deluxe running an Intel core2 Quad Q9550 (Yorkfield) CPU

Have I missed something ... Have I bought a incompatable GFX card?

Advice please ...

orbitalwalsh - was so hoping you were right ... sadly .. no . :( .. did not work.
To the rest of you, yes ... I realise that I might be flogging a dead horse .. and its time to upgrade the entire system ...
The sad thing is ... because I have misread the indications ... I have ended up destroying my gtx titan ... yes titan!!
dont ask how ... im so gutted ... the titan was a gift.
The zotac was a comprimise replacement ( budget) whilst I figured out the best way forward ...
As with most folk ... pennies ... are hard to come by ....

Ill look at the bios ... see if theres a tweak that will get it running for now ... this card that im using here is an old ATI HD 4800
which is shot ... cant use it for any acceleration .. but Ok for ordinary desktop stuff ... a little shimmery though.

Thanks for your ideas ... Ill get back after the bios tweak ...
just dont have the pennies to rush out for a full upgrade just now ...

ver 2105 ( H:02 B:38 ) is what was in ... I reinstalled it just in case.
I've never overclocked anything ... dont like the idea of it to be honest ...

Anyway Im feeling that an upgrade is going to have to happen ... so

what if I keep the zotac nvidia geforce gtx 1060>
and get a new Mobo and cpu

The heaviest game/sim I play is DCS world ... wow and eve online ...

What would match up well with the zotac ... price £100 for mobo and £200 for cpu ( £300 max for both ) to give me good dcs perfomance ...
which still tends to be CPU intensive ..

I have a good power supply, 16g ddr3 Ram, and a new ssd. The CPU cooler is good too.
Is the Asus P8Z68-V / Gen3 Mobo worth looking at ? I can get one new @ £150 ? if so what CPU to go with it?
