I've had a 2.5" Toshiba IDE 40GB laptop hard drive for about a month which I bought from a competitor (OCUK didn't stock the product that I wanted, sorry ).
I was at a friends house, copying about 20GB of files over WIFI.. it was taking hours, so I thought, stuff this.
I pulled the drive out from my laptop and plugged it into his 2.5" caddy (Not sure if I did this right because it don't have the blocked off pin on his caddy) and the drive didn't turn on. I put it back in my laptop and the laptop didn't detect the hard drive and I am not sure if the drive is switched on inside the laptop.
Is there any way to work out if the drive is truly dead before I send it back?
The drives model is: Toshiba MK4032GAX
