Did I mess up my life?

I am 20 years old.

Went to Uni for about 3 months then decided I didn't want to get in debt/do a crap course and not get a good result so I quit.

It was a big decision to quit and i still wonder what my life would be like if I hadn't. But after quitting I now have a job and am on about 16k.

Not bad considering my alevels wern't that great.

It was annoying catching the train everyday, spending over 3 hours commuting every day but now I have a car it is a little better.

Next step is my CCNA, then hopefully a promotion. :)


I was lucky to get this job without having a car, my advice is get a crap job, get a car and work your way from there. it really helps when getting a job.


I would love to run a LANVAN though. :D

But Internet /LAN Centes never seem to make much money, you are essentially putting this with an Ice Cream van lol which also don't make much money. so it probably isn't going to happen.



but why not set upa normal LAN place. you would need money for about 20 PCs but you could rent the building.

I looked into this some years ago, rent in anywhere you'd get passing trade is horrendous, cheapest we found was about £20k pa.
On the whole, it's not much in demand and with such a simple idea which has been done before, you have to ask why there isn't one in every town.
The answer is, there isn't the demand.

Shame really, I'd love to run such a thing, but it's just not feasable.
 
There is one in my town and it has been going for a couple of years now, might go an have a look at how well it does. Would be a cool job though.
 
That's the thing with the LanVan, demand doesn't come to us, we go to demand! Would be available for hire as transport to stag do's, work parties and LAN's up and down the country. When not hired it could run a route through London, far more exciting than an ordinary bus you've gotta say :D. IMO it'd be an absolute hit.
 
My advice (well, what I'd do) is either grin and bear it and get some A Levels under my belt (you seem bright enough to do it.)

My second option would be the forces. If you're 'too afraid to die', then you don't have to join the Army - there are two other forces as well ;)

Well, after my little rant last night, came back fromk a driving lesson today to find i had a job waiting for me that a recruitment agency found me :o

Funny what a few hours does to ya, after a great driving lesson it was cool to come home and find that :D

Have you been to any agencies in swindon? My dad was with best recruitment or something and found a job within days :)
 
I sometimes feel the same bummed out way.

Crap job, no money, a mortgage, a 2 year old girl and i sometimes feel my life could have been so much more, and im only 20 years old...lol

All i can say is atleast you have no one dependant on you and no hefty bills that need to be paid at the end of the month. :)

The Army is brilliant, if i had my time over I'd be in it now, in the Royal Engineers or REME.
I was Army born and bred and I wish I had joined up as an engineer, minefield clearance, bridge building and so on, you can even learn to plaster, make bulletproof glass and so on.

Army life is not quite so good for kids and wives as it is for Soldiers but it's better than some alternatives. You can sign up for a minimum of 3 years and extend your time if you like it.
Prepare to do as you're told though and moaning would be a truly bad move.

And yea I have been to the Swindon agencies, not much out there at the moment.
 
Really? Hmm. How far from the honda factories are you? If you really want a job, i'd go for that. It's hard work, but the pay you can't complain at, and after a year you can get a new civic, then after another 6 months you can have a jazz or CRV tax-free, and they will pay for any repairs, provided you don't abuse it.
