did i receive used/refurbished GPU?

My ocuk value 480gtx came with a second yellow label over the first torn one on the anti-static bag. as the card itself looked unused still with it's protective film on the case I didn't query it. it's been flawless so far so doubt it's used.

Im guessing its a breach of contract if the seals have been broken and hence the one week DSR would be null and void?

Send it back dude, and try to get them to pay postage as its been mis sold. That would be my argument.

personally it wont be a problem whether you keep or replace it, either way you have 3 years warrenty, but all you know the new card you get could be either faulty of more unreliable than the card you have now, personally i wouldnt bother, esp with P&P just a hasstle, and no ones going to look in your case and go EWWWW you got STUFF ON YOUR GPU! lol :D

thx guys for opinions i gonna keep the card coz is working fine and i have got 3 years warranty, even if i will exchange for another one doesn't mean that all will be ok, so its better don't try ;)

Im just a bit worried that shops do that, if the card was opened , should be on sale with info saying that it was opened.

If only you hadn't used Imageshack, I'd actually bother to look at the pictures. Imageshack is garbage, slow and ad-riddled. Use tinypic or something.

But as Bozy says, most "new" cards will have signs of "manhandling" these days.

Maybe its your internet connection?

I have no problem looking at stuff on Imageshack. Its fast too.

I recently got a 6990 from ocuk, a gigabyte version. It did not have any seals on the box and the box looked like it had been opened before, the sticker on the anti static bag was just normal rymans celetape. The card looked to be in great shape, so did not bother changing it.

Its fine

Sometimes components need re-worked when building pcbs
It is very common ( I have worked in electronics manufacturing for nearly 20 years)

I'm looking to get a 6990 round about xmas time. I don't think i'll be getting it from ocuk, knowing, that it may of already been used or opened. It a 500 pound card and I'm not willing to take the risk.

Looks unused to me.

Most manufacturers now don't seal boxes
The images just look like factory fixes, as mentioned this is reasonably common and you will find it on many gpus and mobos if you look hard enough.
The residue is from the washing process and completely normal again visible on most pcbs. Perhaps it just shows up more on the blue pcb.

As has been said a few times, this card was not purchased from OcUK. Also as has been said, not all manufacturers seal their boxes. If OcUK were to put our own seals then on manufacturers boxes we would be accused of resealing used products. We can't win whatever we do :-p

Best Regards

well I don't see what the problem is, you cant assume every single gfx card will be like that. Also I have purchased many items from Ocuk that have been perfect ie brand new, this 6990 was in perfect condition, no dust or anything and I was happy with it, I did not mind the box was opened, all item were in included and sealed in their plastic bags. I don't know the reason why it arrived the way it did, a mix up at gigabyte or that these are just how they are sent out from Gigabyte.

There was no wear or tear, if the gfx card was dusty and showed to be used then I would have just returned it for new one, no problem really.

my old 4670 had the same kinda mayks on it although it was a matt black PCB, the marks are VERY hard, if not impossible to get off :P dont bother me though, not visible when in a case and im not one to fuss :D

And AMDPower, can i ask why you decided to get a 6990? are you crossfiring or something? - im not digging at you or anything lol just interested, want to know how rich peoples minds work ;)
