Did Single Malt Whisky become uncool?

I'm glad the JD guy got shouted down :D

Faith restored.

I don't particularly understand the Malt vs. Bourbon superiority battle.

Personally, I prefer bourbon -- I find it a much smoother, fuller flavoured type of whisky. The lighter, airy, smack-in-the-face flavour of most malts doesn't float my boat too much.

The likes of JD Silver Select and Gentleman Jack are very very good, and you can't deny the likes of Four Roses, Maker's Mark and (one of the best) Woodforde's Reserve are top class drinks.

Didn't realise I'd cause such a stir. I actually collect special bottles of JD so I rarely drink the stuff. But given the choice I'd have Guinness or JD/Diet Coke.

To the person who said why diet coke...it's almost zero calories thats why, compared to a guinness that is about the same as a sunday roast lol.

My parents went to Seattle recently, my dad (who drinks Real Ale) asked at a bar for a beer and they gave him Budwieser lol. Shows how much Americans know about alcohol.

Took him 2-3 attempts to explain what a beer was, after being offered Carlsberg, Budwieser and Carling lol

please stop posting.

It annoys me as well when people put ice on my whiskey or are totally shocked when I say I don't want coke, but what do you expect, most people that go to bars are either people who just drink beer, wine or kids who just drink everything mixed with coke or redbull. I never see anyone else drinking straight up whiskey apart from me whenever I go out. And I even get funny looks from the bartenders sometimes. I remember when I was in Canada they were totally shocked and asked me like 10 times if I was sure I just wanted whiskey on it's own, clearly never been to the UK....

The Grill is the way forward, staff there know their stuff and the selection is awesome.
Have to remember and bring plenty of cash though... Easy to get carried away!

I will be there in ~2 hours as per the usual plan of attack for a Saturday. Love it in there.

Lol theres a few of us up aberdeen now :p normally drag -Ad- in there to give him a drink education.

KaHn

I'd be up for an Aberdeen get together early next year if you fancy organising one. I understand a few of you get together for a drink but you could make a 'proper' meet.
