My mains electricity is currently down and has been for over a month now, the company I rent my property from has supplied me with a diesel generator whilst the mains electricity is repaired. Initially fuel deliveries for the genny were hit and miss but since expressing my annoyance at this, the deliveries have been coming thick and fast. 6x20 litre containers of red diesel every couple of days, which is far more than I need.

Here's the question, my central heating/hotwater fuel tank (28 sec Kerosene) has just run dry. The boiler is a Worcester combi boiler, will it run o.k on diesel?:o I've googled around and it seems people have done this with success as Kerosene and diesel are closely related but with slightly differing viscosities.

What do you reckon, will it work? or will I be sitting in a smouldering pile of ashes that was once my house if I go ahead with it?

you should really change the jets in the boiler if you running diesel

Yeah, that's the one thing that seems to consistently get mentioned, it seems it should be ok in the short term, but if I were to change to diesel permanently (which i'm not) then I would have to get the jets changed.

Tbh, this boiler gets very little use, it's only really used for hot water, It runs the central heating also but obviously not using that at present and even during the winter it barely gets used as I can't stand central heating, I just use a couple of electric radiators which is enough for me and more economical with current Kerosene prices.
