Bought a pair of the ZAF style, cost well over a ton but damn are they nice.
No way I can tell the old man how much they cost, he would kill me...

What do you lot think? Waste of money or worth it for the quality?

Waste of cash - you can get decent Jeans for way less from Discount outlets/Costco etc.

All my jeans are branded and have all cost in the region of £20-40. Designer jeans tend to fit better and are usually of a better quality, but there's no point paying crazy money for them.

For jeans, too much, max i'd spend and i mean absolute max (they would have to be the best jeans ever made in the history of mankind) is £50.

Thing is, I know stingy people who will see a pair of jeans for £25 and say "oh, why pay more when they are so cheap?". Well, in about a years time those jeans will be torn and shabby and you will have to buy some more. In the past i've bought FCUK jeans and i've one pair which is 3 years old i'm still wearing!

What i'm saying is that you are being conned into buying lesser quality clothing because it's cheaper. This is the throw-away society.

Wrong. My jeans were £25 and are fine after a few years of me wearing them with absolutly no damage whatsoever. It depends whether you check the quality or just pick up random cheap ones.

Stingy? What about people like me who can't actually afford expensive jeans?

Most of my jeans have a RRP of well over £50, despite buying them at a significantly discounted price, and I've never had any issues with quality.

Don't get me wrong, I used to spend a lot on clothes at full price - but eventually couldn't see the point in it any more. If I see a full price t-shirt that I really like, I'll probably buy it - but I try not to make a habit of it.

With Diesel jeans costing over £100, you're buying fashion. Don't kid yourself into thinking they'll be of a better quality than £40 jeans from the same designer.

I kinda agree with that statement... to be accepted in my social "groups" I need to look the part which is quite sad when you think about it?

Oh well don't seem to be getting much support here!

Yeah Levis cost something like 20 quid in costco, they also sell some for a fiver, I got mine from tesco.

IMO the quality aspect is a load of pap.

JAF? do you mean ZAF? what wash?

I like diesel jeans mainly because i havent found any highstreet jeans which fit like they do. If anyone has any suggestions for slimmer fitted jeans I would love to know.

I dont beleive they are "better quality" in terms of durability.

The problem with diesel jeans is there are loads of fakes, and ebay is full of £20-30 diesel jeans (I have even seen fakes in discount stores - the way to easily check is looking at the "microstiching" on the lable). But there are some trusted sellers where you can pick up stuff usually £60-£100.

They are obviously a waste of money since they are 4 times the price and not 4 times the quality, but i do think they look nicer (usually). So if you can afford them buy them! The only problem is you'll start looking down on your normal highstreet jeans.

That's the one, ZAF :o 796 wash. They fit very well which is why I like them.
Everything on ebay is fake which is why I stick with selfridges etc...

Of course part of the price is the brand, you get that with everything now but usually the quality is better (Mercedes etc).

Tommy Hilfiger do good slimmer fitted jeans.

There is this type of denim on the market for decades that is cheaper than anything else - it's thin, unclean, low quality fabric of grey/yellowish tint to itself that looks like it's dirty from cigarette smoke when washed. Thread is uneven and looks like a stretch denim. Blue colouring gives it characteristic violetish tint.
For years no one would use it for anything else than cheapest workers uniforms.
I watched with astonishment how few years ago major labels made it fashionable and charged £100+ for it, same cheapest denim, thin rag, violet shade tint, dirty, yellowish looking stonewashed patches on knees. The whole nine yards....

And everyone just had to have one....

i dont condemn spending that amount on denim but for Diesel

look for brands like Sugar Cane, Blue Blood, PRPS, Nudie, Edwin and APC. these brands use incredibly high quality denim giving a great fit and wash.
