So how many of you tune your diesel turbo cars??
people say to me dont bother but the power is just so easy to get!

Ive got a mondeo ST TDCI had it remapped and running 194bhp, whats next on the list to get it over 200bhp??

how much would a intercooler cost and setup ? and what power am i looking at ?

set of cams will give it another 15 bhp, more if its mapped on a rolling road !

I've had my 330d remapped. Makes a BIG difference to performance and driveability. Well worth having done and usually costs peanuts.

I am just going to show my lack of knowledge, what is a Revo map, how much, and where? :)

It's a 'reprogramming' of your car's computer that controls the fuelling, timing and other characteristics of your engine.

Prices are displayed on Revo's website, as is a map showing contact details of your nearest REVO dealer.

I had it done to my MK4 Golf GTi, it drives like a different car completely!

Locate a dealer here

According to the details for your car, it's £399 + VAT

Blimey I didnt realise the gains were so high - I've been toying about looking for a decent diesel for a while now but thought the performance was too poor. Thinking about it now I might get myself a Leon FR (old style) or an Astra 1.9 CDTI. Astra seems to have better tuning potential and is a little cheaper to buy a newer one so that might win in the end.

Good thread and info guys!

the leon 150 PD can reach 190bhp on a simple remap, so i presume 200+ isn't that hard to get

The astra cdti 150bhp sri is a great car!

Remaps to nearly 200bhp

Some Celtic tuning company or something has it at 205bhp - which gives me diesel and an extra 55bhp over what I have.

Plus I need a bigger car to carry my work stuff about in, and I used to have an older Astra SRi and I loved that.

What is the effect on the warranty of the car and the reliability generally?

Is it possible to remap/tune the Ford 1.8tdi engine (This one is the TDI, not TDCI from an '02 Focus) :)

Very low power right now, about 98 if memory serves correctly, and was thiking of picking up the old man's for a while as a stopgap between current car and something else!

I know very little about diesel tuning as it's not something that interests me.

I have to ask though, surely all this tuning for extra performance negates the benefits of owning a diesel - ie good fuel consumption?
