Diesels "£#*@!!!

The part stuck in the head is not threaded, it's just the actual heated part of the glow plug the protrudes into the combustion chamber.

Yeah I know its the electrode thats stuck nothing else. But the electrode wire has come out and there must be a small hole in it hence the easy out which needs a hole not a thread.

I was asking why it never fell in..and was the hole conical as it got closer to the chamber but it may just be carbon stopping it falling it. Any pressure or drilling may push it straight in. Its a shame its so far in .... once you can feel and see something its ten time easier...lol

The tip is probably tapered [not entirely sure] so that could work in his favour, stopping it from going into the combustion chamber itself.

They only *just* poke out proud from the cylinder head face.

The glow plug will have got carboned up behind the glowing tip where it passes through the cylinder head.

Generic photo, but this gives an idea of what's up. My thoughts still stand, I reck it's head-off time :(

Cheers Dave L

I've borrowed your pic :D

Red arrow points to where the electrode snapped off, it's seized in place due to carbon build up as you said.

I've got some long drills and taps on order so will update when they arrive, going to try and drill out the ceramic centre and tap it.

Fingers crossed.
