Hi

A quick question for all you budding gym rats !

Ive started a new training programme which includes a new diet. My aim is to increase protein but to try and cut out some of the fat thats in my diet as over the last 8 months i have got a litle porky ;-). (8 months of no weight training and eating / drinking **** has taken its toll)
What i wanted to know is if you guys think taking something like maxi CLA 1000 or Maxi EFA to help everything along ? OR are these an expensive waste of time.

Im really worried about my body burning muscle rather than fat :(

Thanks

Sam

Best of starting with a days plan of your diet first - until you know exactly how much you are eating a day, and what ratios, you can't really recommend any supps :)

Hi

My diet for the last week has been as follows

Brekfast - Bowl of ceral with skimmed milk or a peice of wholemeal toast and 2 eggs and 3 omega fish oil capsules

Mid morning snack - Apple and a few rice cakes

Lunch at 1 - Pasta chicken veg

Mid afternoon snack - Apple or other fruit

Before i leave for the gym - Banana

After Gym - Protein shake with skimmed milk and a scoup of nesquick

Dinner - Meat and Veg

Ive also started drinking quite a lot of green tea, not only because its a lot better for me than the usual coffee / tea but also because it actually tastes good (suprised)

I am aiming to lose body fat, build muscle and tone up. Im training 5 days a week mon - fri

The area where i need to lose weight the most is around my stomach.

D'oh! Don't use the word 'tone' around these parts!

Have you read the sticky? There's good info. there.

It's hard to do all those things you have mentioned at the same time. You have to be really dedicated.

If you want to lose weight then the diet you have listed looks ok I guess - how many calories does it amount to and what is your BMR etc.? By eating maintenance calories and doing some quality cardio and resistance training you will lose weight.

read the sticky and include a lot more fats in your diet. Ditch the cereal for more eggs, porridge too if you want. I would up the dosage of omega 3 caps, 9 a day usually balances out the ratios depending on the strength of them, obviously less if your eating fish almost every day.
