So im starting a diet that a friend gave me, she got it from a nutrionist but i was wondering if there were any people here that have any small tid bits of info or tips that they learnt whilst on a succesful diet, my goal is 2 stone, 1 per month which ive been told is quite doable.

the RDA of fat intake is 90g a day for normal male. you wanna lose weight, you'll be looking at half of that, with no more than 31g of saturated fat

1 stone a month sounds like a lot. My tip to lose weight is - moderate eating habits and portion size, and get on the treadmill for some (to start with) light excercise.

Small changes can make big differences; if you crash lose a stone a month you'll probably put it back on quickly. A lifestyle change is required.

1) Eat what you like
2) Eat only when your hungry
3) Eat consciously
4) Stop when you are full

At least that is what Paul McKenna says :)

As true as this is, a lot of people just don't believe it.

But it is all anyone needs to know.

Exactly.

There are other things like make sure that you eat something for breakfast so that your metabolism gets going for the day.

Don't give me that crap RDA's are to put it nicely a load of excrement and cutting one food group is not a good way to go about loosing weight, if anything white fast acting simple carbs should be whats cut for the most part.
Avoid heavily processed food where at all possible this includes so called healthly spreads such as flora replace it with good natural butter and use less.
Get some exercise and if you drink a lot of fruit juice or smoothies don't their packed full of quick acting sugars eat a peice of whole fruit instead

A few things to try if you're serious about losing weight.

Drink water only, cut out all fizzy drinks, milk and only drink alcohol in moderation.
Eat 6 small meals a day.
Make an exercise plan and stick to it - at least 3-4 days a week if you can for 1 hour.

I have dropped 1st 3lbs in just a month, booze only on WE, with occasional glass of wine with a good meal.

Breakfast cereal, lunch soup or bagel / pitta with something, evening meal same food I've alwasy eaten but not having seconds or thirds!

Doing weight watchers online (say what you will it's good :p) - It is not a prescriptive diet but makes you think why am I waisting points on stuff which I don't reall enjoy (like squash.)

Shag more!

Never has anything been more true.

Also it's simple maths to lose weight. Work out how many calories you use daily by trial and error. i.e. work out what you can eat without your weight changing over a few weeks or a month.

Then reduce your calorie intake by between 100 and 300 calories a day depending on how quickly you want to lose weight.

If you factor in exercise then your calorie usage will increase so you will be able to eat more without gaining weight.

Also try and eat a varied diet i.e. not too much sugar or fat. The person who said just half your fat intake is wrong as that means you could drink as much sugary pop as you want and still lose weight.

Another tip is eat high protein low fat foods like white meat or fish as you get less energy from protein then other food groups and they fill you up.

take in fewer calories than you burn off.

that's the only tip that you need.

With you there. Don't try and cut out all the bad stuff or you'll relapse. Just moderate and be sensible is all I have done and am five pounds away from being 2 stone lighter than I was last June.

I dont really get how people get fat. Its quite simple you stop when your full and you stop eating food which deap down you know is just bad for you. Its just greed tbh.

:EDIT:

what i will say is fidget. Peple that fidget put on far less weight. I never stop moving. And thus have never even been close to fat no matter how much i seem to eat, but then again i comform to what i said above. I dsont eat things i know are just bad for me and i stop when im full.

This is true. I lost a stone while on weight watchers (online). It really made me realise how quickly all the little things add up. Once I had a grip on what I was eating, I quit WW and have since lost almost another stone. I'm now over half way to my goal weight of 160lbs.
