Watch out for foods labled as low fat, usually they have just replaced the fat with sugar.

Good shout I forgot about that, a lot of the time low fat options actually have nearly as many cals due to the amount of sugar needed to give the same sort of pleasent mouth feel as the full fat versions

Don't keep ANY junk food in the house. I rarely do and never miss it when it isn't there. If I buy a 6-pack of crisps it's gone in 2/3 days just because I know it's there. If I buy 2 microwave burgers, I will eat them as a late night snack in 2/3 days. But if any of these things are not there then they don't cross my mind. For snacks just rely on cereal, toast and fruit.

It's easy to get into the cycle of buying crisps etc and getting the frame of mind "well even if I don't eat them today, I'll eat the tomorrow so might aswell just eat them now" Then when you go shopping you think "well I've got no crisps in so I'll buy some" Goto step 1 and repeat.

I've knocked drinking alcohol on the head. The pounds are flying off me and I haven't changed what I eat very much apart from avoiding anything obviously fatty or full of sugar...

Get some exercise and if you drink a lot of fruit juice or smoothies don't their packed full of quick acting sugars eat a peice of whole fruit instead

Fruit contains just as much sugar in the form of glucose and fructose, which are both monosaccharides.

Crash diets are a waste of time. Instead just do loads of exercise and cut out as many carbohydrates as you can from your diet, especially in the evening.

This is true but you dont sit and much your way through 6 or 7 peices at a time where as its very easy to consume the juice of 6 or 7 bits of fruit

my advice is stopping eating fatty..

seriously though i find cutting down on the carbs and eating smaller portions through out the day that way you tend to feel hungry less often. also cut out fast food and alcohol and stick to water and fresh fruit, veg and meat. the less crap you consume the less effort you have to do burning it off, also a healthier diet will give you more energy and you'll sleep better.

uve actually made me want crisps. My mouth is actually salivating lol. Why do this to me? There is none in the house. Argh!

Ok well i thought id share this plan i got direct from a nutrition specialist who is quite awesome at her job and swears by this diet and excercise plan.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Low-Carbohydrate, Low-Fat, High-Protein Diet for fast and efficient weight loss

Breakfast:

One slice of bread with lean ham, low-fat quark, turkey, chicken, tomatoes, cucumber etc. Tea or coffee as preferred, but don’t add sugar and only skimmed milk. Avoid ready-made cappuccinos etc.

During the first 6 weeks avoid all cheeses other than quark. Don’t use butter or margarine at all. If the bread is too dry for you, use mustard or tomato paste instead. Make neither contains any sugar.

Mid-morning snack:

One piece of fruit, e.g. apple, grapefruit, kiwi, pineapple, mango or berries. During the first 6 weeks avoid grapes, bananas, melons and cherries because they contain too much readily available fruit sugar (fructose).
Or:
One skimmed-milk yoghurt with raspberries etc.

Lunch:

150-200 g of lean meat, poultry or fish cooked completely without any fat (grilling or steaming is best) plus about 250 g of vegetables again cooked without any fat or a side-salad dressed without oil.

Afternoon snack:

See mid-morning snack!

Dinner:

See lunch!

Drinks:

Avoid all alcoholic drinks, soft drinks and ready-made sugary drinks. Try and drink at least 2 litres of water a day plus about another litre of herbal teas (nettle is best for getting rid of excess fluids). Don’t use Hagebutten or fruit teas for yourself because they are basically fruit infusions, which induce the pancreas to release an excess of insulin, which is a hormone used for fattening calves amongst other things.

Notes:

If you use tinned fish, such as tuna, that’s o.k. but make sure it’s in brine and not in oil. Smoked trout without any additives is a good option, too.

After six weeks you can include a greater variety of fruits in your regime and also start using a little oil again (olive, walnut or rape seed is best), but only in moderation.

Anyway thats my plan for the next 8 weeks, i just bought my self a stepping machine for cardivascular and slendertone abs belt which comes highly recommended by a friend of mine whos a gym nut, spent a chunk of money but its for my health so im looking forward to the results, will update in 8 weeks when i finish this, wish me luck :)

you want to drink more water than that.

just a standard high protein / low carb diet.

anyway, why the urgency to lose 2 stone in one month?

That diet sounds no better than one I could sit and knock up to be honest, I would recommend upping fats as you don't want to get your body into using protein for fuel as it'l use those lovely stores called muscles.
I would also get rid of the bread and replace it with a better carb source such as oats.
Also how much do you weight and how tall are you? and are you aware that most of the weight you will loose in that 2 months is going to be water and glycogen not fat

take in fewer calories than you burn off.

that's the only tip that you need.

This is the only answer you need. It is very simple, you take in less energy than your body needs -> your body burns fat to replace the deficit in calories.

Its funny how many diet books there are out there, and this is the only thing you need to know.

Don't do a specific diet, simply eat balance low cal meals.

Just make sure that you do not have a deficit so low your body starts using muscle tissue as the energy source. Calculate your basel metabolic rate here:http://www.weightlossforgood.co.uk/basal_metabolic_rate.htm - dont go below half of your BMR

As I'm sure you know losing weight is a balance between regular daily exercise/activity and putting less in your mouth.

If you suddenly start exercising hard you will burn off some fat but put on (denser) muscle so you will not seem to lose as much weight as you expect but will look trimmer and better.

Drink water. Loads of water. A pint when you first wake up. and then three or four pints more during the day, but not just before bed unless you want to wake up in the night for a bathroom run. A pint about half an hour before each meal is good - reduces apetite and aids digestion. Also drinking all that water means you won't get so many urges to have a cup of tea/coffee/coke/beer/wine/etc.

Eat slowly and concentrate on your food. Don't just eat in front of the TV without noticing what you are eating. Enjoy it.

I would say major less on diets, calorie counting, fat counting and so - but just try to be more physically active all the time.

I think a stone per month is a bit too much - you need to give your skin time to shrink as you lose inches.

Well followed the routine i got above from the nutrionist and so far have lost a nice half a stone which im very pleased about :D only 1 and a half to go :p
