hi all just wandering how much difference there is between the 5770 and the 5870, and please dont say about 140 quid lol,
 
The important bits are:

HD5770 - 800(80x10) Unified Shaders, 40 TMUs, 16 Render Output Units
HD5870 - 1600(80x20) Unified Shaders, 80 TMUs, 32 Render Output Units

On paper, HD5770 is about half the speed of HD5870, and in games it comes out at about that performance too. In fact, a pair of HD5770s in Crossfire will pretty much match a single HD5870.

If you want some kind of a comparison, HD4870 had exactly the same core configuration as HD5770 does now, just on a higher process. Where HD4870 had the edge was a 256bit memory bus, compared to HD5770's 128bit one. This is done to save costs, and in fact, doesn't impact the card that much as it's pretty much the same in performance as the HD4870.

The main difference is you can buy easily buy a 5770 but getting hold of a 5870 is much more difficult :p
