Difference between 965P and 975X chipsets?

The DFI RD600 board is currently available in the clearance section HERE ,at that price I'm quite tempted myself, offers dual x8 for crossfire and great reported overclockability.
So is there a major difference between 16x - 4x and 8x - 8x

x8 - x8 apparently offers better performance than x16-x4 although the difference isn't said to be major.

I'm currently in the process of moving over to core2Duo also from my current A64/DFI CFX 3200 setup,I run X1900XTX crossfire and intend to retain it for a while longer so I'm looking for the best Core2Duo crossfire platform.

From the research I've done it seems no core2Duo chipset offers dual x16 crossfire,975X seems to be the best option to me for a good balance of features/overclocking potential and crossfire performance, this is why I've opted for an Intel Badaxe 2 board, which will hopefully be with me tomorrow......thats if the fleabayer I bought it off has decided to stop messing me around, pull his finger out and get the damn thing in the post.
